Joan is a certified TCTSY-facilitator with over 10 years personal yoga practice. She incorporates all her experience in her practice: Reg. Gestalt Psychotherapist, Reg. Yoga Teacher and Reg. Nurse. Joan has an undergraduate degree in Education and Gender Studies. She facilitates Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) sessions in the community and in clinical settings. She works primarily as a Psychotherapist with both individuals and couples, incorporating TCTSY to support clients to connect with themselves.
Joan offers funded TCTSY groups under the umbrella of the New Zealand Accident Claims Corporation for accepted sensitive claims. She is enthusiastic about building networks between TCTSY, mental health services, refugee organisations, the prison system and supporting practitioners to train as TCTSY-F's in New Zealand. Finally, Joan also has an interest in vicarious trauma which can be experienced by health professions, in particular, nurses and doctors and is interested in supporting research in this area.
