Frequently Asked Questions

For information specific to our 300hour Certification Program, please review the program page.

  • Candidates for our training programs are one or more of the following: a certified yoga instructor; a licensed mental health practitioner; a licensed social worker; or a professional who actively works with communities in which trauma is a prevalent or systemic aspect of everyday life.

We are not able to recommend a specific training or program that might qualify you as a candidate for our own. We do recommend, however, that you do extensive research on any training or program you may apply for and on the people or organization who conduct it.

Becoming a certified TCTSY Facilitator also requires two levels of training. First, our 20hour Foundational Training, then the 300hour Certification Program. You can learn more about these trainings on their respective pages.

  • Applications for the 2023-24 Certification Program will open on January 15th, 2023. The program will run from September 2023 through March 2024.

  • Our program is open to certified 200-hour yoga teachers, licensed mental health professionals and individuals working in a community that has experienced trauma (we ask that these individuals be affiliated with an organization that can provide them with support).

All candidates must have completed prior training in our TCTSY model to be eligible for the program. Currently approved pretrainings are the 40-hour and 20-hour Foundational Trainings.

  • Everyone must complete our pretraining requirement, regardless of prior education, training or experience. A large part of our emphasis is on building relationship through these experiences, not solely on providing content.

  • We offer a limited number of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion scholarships for the 2022-23 300hour Certification Program. You can find out a little more about those at the bottom of our certification page here. We are currently refining the DEI eligibility criteria and will be hosting an open house for the DEI scholarships in early January, so keep an eye on our website and register for that when the link is posted.

There are usually a number of scholarships available for our 20-hour Foundational Trainings. These trainings are handled independently by our licensed trainers. You're welcome to reach out to the individual host of the training that interests you to find out more.

  • We offer weekly, donation-based online classes. You can find out more here: healwithcfte.org/classes

You are welcome to search our list of certified facilitators to see if there are classes being offered in your area.

You are also welcome to purchase our Embodiment Practices for Healing, a series of 6 videos that you can practice at home.

  • We have since migrated our online training content to Thinkific. Please contact us — and include your proof of purchase — for instructions on how to access the materials.

  • We will be making the recording of the 2023 Conference on Trauma and Embodiment available through April 18, 2023.

  • The 300-hour TCTSY Certification Program is accredited by Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Our 20-hour Foundational Training is valid for CEUs with YA and IAYT. The E-course is not.

  • Center for Trauma and Embodiment offers online group classes only, but we have facilitators all over the country and the world who offer individual sessions online, and many of them have experience working specifically with survivors of sexual trauma.

You are welcome to explore our list of facilitators here to see if there is someone in your geographic region or in a nearby region and contact them directly. Their biography might have their experience listed, but you can certainly ask them about their experience as well.
